Meet the Crew: Guide Edition!

The 2022 Yes Bay Season has been a memorable one so far.

Meet our guides that make the magic happen!

CAPTAIN TINA (OLD SPICE) BERMITZ

Old Spice joins the Yes Bay Guide staff for another summer which will make it her 10th season!  With all of that she has learned and her openness, she's looking for a very successful year with a ton of fish again! She loves bottom fishing for halibut, like her husband, Snapper!

Tina has been officially guiding for over a decade and unofficially forever. She has owned and run Palm Bay Fishing Outfitters bait and tackle for ten years. Old Spice and Snapper decided to close the store and come and work together at Yes Bay. Tina was born in Ohio and moved to Central East Coast of Florida when she was 4 years old. Her love for the water and fishing come from her mom. They either were fishing from the beach or fishing the Indian River Lagoon.

Tina is really looking forward to guiding again this year, meeting new people and catching some awesome fish!!! Tina spends her winters in Florida working as a fishing guide on the SE coast of Florida.

Captain Al returns for his tenth season at Yes Bay Lodge, happily subjecting himself to getting his butt kicked every day by his wife Tina (Old Spice)!

CAPTAIN Al (Snapper) BERMITZ

Al and his wife Tina hail from Palm Bay Fla, and he's been guiding professionally for a smidge over 10 years now.

Al was born & raised in Bronx, New York, where he fished the Long Island sound for about 18 years.  He then moved to Florida and has been fishing there since 1987.  He fishes mostly the Indian river from Melbourne to Sebastian, Fla.  He has fished offshore & inshore and loves them both. This will be his tenth season guiding with us, and it has been a great opportunity to fish Alaska the Yes Bay way (protected waters and big fish!).

He is looking forward to hooking you up on some serious fish!

CAPTAIN JOHNNY (CARETAKER) LEITER

Johnny “Caretaker” Leiter literally took his first steps on a boat deck.
Growing up in Southwest Florida he fell in love with fishing and exploring his native waters and got his captains license right out of school. Since then he has operated vessels ranging from airboats in the Everglades to yachts in many different parts of the world. During his first season at Yes Bay in 2016, he not only fell in love with Alaska, but also his wife Erin “ShortRound" McCarthy, who you'll meet in the office. It is their great fortune to be able to live and work together in a place they hold dear to their hearts.

CAPTAIN JIMMY (JUNKYARD) ROLLAND

Captain Jimmy is back on the Whaler for yet another season of pulling in the big ones!

CAPTAIN DAVE (BOOTS) GOODRICK

Boots joined the Yes Bay Guide staff in 2021 and has returned to embrace the opportunity to personalize the experience for his guests as well as developing new friendships with them.  He looks forward to having you on board for the adventure of a lifetime, sharing his affinity for salmon, halibut and rock fishing. With several years' experience trail guiding throughout the US, Boots loves to show off his versatility when our guests are also interested in making the trek up Wolverine Creek for some freshwater fishing.

CAPTAIN RYAN (CUTTER) McCLASH

Cutter's first season at Yes Bay Lodge was as a 22-year-old in 2004. Throughout life's journey, which has taken him up and down and all around, he always looked back fondly on his time here. When the opportunity arose to make his triumphant return to Yes Bay after 18 years, he took it!

CAPTAIN RICH GRESENS

Hey y'all! I'm Rich Gresens. I am a 38-year-old Virginia Beach native. I grew up fishing and hunting. I mainly offshore fish for tuna, mahi, marlin and wahoo as well as deep drop for tilefish. In the winter I am an avid hunter targeting whitetail deer, ducks, geese and turkey. I have a 10-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Dixie, who is my best friend as well as my duck hunting partner.

Fishing and hunting has been a passion of mine since I could basically walk. My favorite part about it is helping people be successful on that fishing or hunting trip of a lifetime. I am very friendly, rarely outspoken and don't take life too seriously. I am very much looking forward to this season at Yes Bay Lodge and putting y'all on some world class Alaska fishing. Fish on!

CAPTAIN PEYTON BLANTON

Peyton was born and raised in South Florida. He is an avid sportsman working as a fishing guide and a hunting guide for the last five years. He has worked as a hunting guide in Florida, South Dakota, and Nebraska, hunting for turkey, waterfowl, pheasant, dove, snipe, and quail. He loves guiding with his bird dogs, Hally and Kimber. He primarily fishes in the Gulf of Mexico guiding locals and vacationers in catching snook, redfish, sheepshead, tarpon, grouper, snapper, king fish, and more. Peyton is looking forward to his first year guiding at Yes Bay Lodge, fishing in new waters and catching new species. Peyton’s passion for the outdoors is unmeasurable: If he is not fishing or hunting, he is talking about fishing or hunting! His enthusiasm is contagious, guaranteeing a good time for all.
